A mug that borrows its logic from a bouldering wall: a pale, granular field interrupted by small bursts of color, arranged with the deliberate irregularity of a route setter's hand.

Design Story

At a distance the mug reads as two zones. A sand-toned upper body meets a grey lower band along a torn, jagged horizon, and that ragged seam is the composition's quiet tension — it suggests a broken rock edge rather than a drawn line. Scattered across the sand field are raised-looking climbing holds in red, orange, cobalt and pale blue, each carrying a single dark dot where a bolt would sit. Their placement is uneven by design: clusters, gaps, a diagonal drift toward the right, so the eye moves upward the way a climber reads a route. The generous negative space between holds is what makes the color legible.

Use & Styling

The visible-side composition keeps its focal weight in the center of the mug body, with holds thinning out as they approach the grey handle-side boundary, so the graphic never fights the handle. The sculpted-looking silhouette of the handle echoes the wall's angularity, and the jagged rim between sand and grey ties the artwork to the base rather than floating above it. On a table or open shelf it works as a small object of interest, statement without noise.
